Winter Storm Freeze and Helping my Neighbors

On February 15th, 2021, an unusual and very strong winter storm hit Texas. The most affected areas (in terms of damage) were near the coast, and a majority of the residential buildings here in Galveston, TX  are not at all built for extreme freezing weather. Personally, my family and I had no power for 5 days, and no water for four days. Through this, I found two global issues that were very prominent during this time; access to electricity, and access to water. Fortunately, my family had stocked up on water, had non-perishable food, and a generator. So although my family did have some very limited access to both resources, there was still a lack of both.

However, while my family was getting by in this situation, my neighbors across the street did not have any water to drink. Luckily, my family and I had an unopened five-gallon jug of purified water, and we decided to give it to them. They were thrilled about it, and they thanked us many times.

These are my and my family's cars covered in snow and ice.

This picture shows an inch of ice frozen around my garden.
